To make money on eBay by becoming a PowerSeller and having a successful auction business, you must have the appropriate attributes to attain that level.
Becoming a successful online auctioneer requires much, much more than a simple source for cheap products. Anybody can find stuff to sell and list it on eBay. But running a business requires a level of dedication that few people have — which is exactly why there are far more workers in this world than business owners and far more buyers on eBay than sellers.

eBay doesn't get ANY of the shipping costs, so some people have found a way to make sure eBay gets as little as possible, by charging 2-3xs the cost of actual shipping for the item. They only have to pay eBay from the sale price (generally .99 or less) and a small cost for the category they placed the item in to sell. The rest is their money. I don't sell that way because eventually eBay may go under if enough people decide to work that scam. It is also rough on some customers who do not check the shipping costs before they bid. They end up with a HUGE surprise when they see the shipping and handling fees.

Lots of people doing drop shipping – some make money, most don't
You're buying at near retail price – and then you mark up for a profit – sure
that is easy – but what about the price you're going to have to charge to
make something – stop and think – not very competitive as most often
the one you buy the product from has a web site also – and sells it
much cheaper than you can – sure you may sustain in the market for a
while but not long term.

A very profitable way is to search around for really good sales. Buy cheap, sell for more $$. I sometimes go to the Coach Outlet about 45 min from my home. Last time, I purchased 8 handbags for a really good deal, and sold almost every single one of them for almost double. You can even be put on a list sometimes, to be contacted when the really big sale(s) hit.

Its tough to make money on ebay because thre are so many sellers.
You have to sell in volume and make at least $2.00 on shipping.
The best items to sell are free items.
1) Print up business cards,
2)Goto yard sales and tell them you will buy what's leftover for $5.00 or haul it away and charge them money.
3) buy items from goodwill & salvation army
4) sell all those free and cheap items on ebay with no reserve.
If they only pay you a penny you make money on shipping.

Ebay really isn’t the best way to make money online
I’ve just found something called Click50, I signed up and started getting refferrals, and I get 50p for everyone I refer. And they dont have to buy anything!

Some sellers sell hot items and make only $10-$20 per item but sell a lot of items every day. Others only sell a few low-demand items each week but make a lot on each.
You need to find items cheaper or more of them, preferably both.

I assume as long as the profit generated is much more than the listing price, as long as they can sell.. they win. So it would be best if they sold it. Which is why its a good place for thieves, as they would make 100% profit if they sold it

There's various methods to make money on eBay.
One way for you as a WAHM would be to consider dropshipping. Minimal investment, just takes a little time at home to get it setup. It's where you don't handle any products or inventory.
How it works:
You simply find a credible supplier and you act as their middleman. The supplier gives you a wholesale price, you mark up the price and promote it on eBay. When a customer makes a payment for this product you listed, you funnel payment to the supplier and they ship it for you, typically under your name! The difference between what the customer paid you and what you send to the supplier is your earnings! Make sure whatever niche products you decide to dropship, that the market isn't too saturated.
