If you are a regular Internet surfer, you would by now have seen and heard a lot about eBay. Off hand, it is one of the largest online shopping mall operating and one that supports one of the most popular Internet payment methods, the paypal. It is not possible that you would want something and you would not find it on eBay. You name it, you will have it on eBay.
eBay As A Tool For Making Money Online
The Internet is the best thing that happened to humankind yet. eBay is one such example, which shows what tremendous potential can be unleashed if you are able to harness its strength. eBay has started with the intention to provide a basic, easily accessible, free platform for people to showcase their products or services to a global market. It gives you a “shop” or a “stall” in exhibition, which has international audience.
What started with this basic need, and a handful of items is today a multi-billion shopping mall, transacting daily in mind-spinning amounts. The saying goes that if you have something to sell, and no start-up money to promote it, use eBay as a gateway to the world.
Why Is Ebay So Popular As A Moneymaking Tool?
The answer is simple – because it does make money! You can sell absolutely anything on the eBay and once your goods are sold, eBay will charge you a token fee. You will also have to pay them if you ask them to advertise, highlight or promote your product – but then, this is small price for the success that follows.
You could use eBay for the innovative way of trading that has helped people literally mint money (without any investment), i.e. dropshipping. This is a comparatively new phenomenon – but one that works like magic. With this method, you need not stock any product; rather all you need to do is get orders for certain products that your dropshipper can deliver. Once you have the order and the payment, you ask the dropshipper to deliver the goods for a tiny fee. The price that the dropshipper charges you for the product would be a fraction of the actual market price – and hence your profit and income.
The dropshipping companies are actually wholesalers who deliver the goods directly to the retailer. There is no other dealing between the retailer and the dropshipper – you are the middle person who makes the connection and for that service, you earn your niche and a handsome income. The other great advantage in using a dropshipping company is that you need not invest anything in stocking the product you are advertising as yours on eBay. The dropshipper is your stocker.
The only point to keep in mind here is to search for a highly reputed dropshipping agency so you will not have any trouble in delivering the goods, once the order has been finalized and paid for. Delivery should be done within 7-15 working days, or you will loose your business goodwill.

Ebay is just not what it use to be. Fees are just to high. I lost for years before I got wise and looked for other ways to sell my things craigslist is a good place for free and it has as many people looking as ebay. If you do want to sell on ebay make sure you list the shipping a little higher so you can make up for the loss.

Since the buyer usually pays the shipping, the seller is not impacted by the shipping costs. Buyers wouldn't really buy if the all in costs were higher than what you could get down the street. Its also a way to get stuff that you can not find locally. People are really successful selling stuff, but you have to own it at the right peice since ebay is an active price discovery system tb.

The big difference between an eBay "store" and a regular online auction is the time and the cost of the listings. Store owners get the advantage of lower insertion prices (making it cheaper for them to list a lot of stuff at lower eBay fees) and longer running auctions. There is also some preferential search treatment (e.g. if you search for a Motorola RAZR phone a list of stores will come up that offer the phone).
eBay stores charge a monthly fee for this ability which is designed to keep the lower volume sellers out. It's a tradeoff that you need to examine your sales with.
Having an eBay store doesn't offer you any distinct advantages into finding any merchandise to sell. There's not an insider's list of distribution channels that you get once you open.
Finding merchandise (IMO) is always the trickiest part. There are a lot of people that will try to sell you distributor/wholesaler lists or "secret" vendor lists where you can buy overstock at pennies on the dollar.
99.99999% of them are not worth the paper they're printed on.
You've named two high ticket brand items that you're looking to sell. They are also two retailers that protect their brand identity and distribution channel very very well. You don't find a lot (if any) of those name items in the discount channels (like Marshall's/TJ Maxx) and they're hard to crack into (especially starting out new).
My advice is to set your sites on some smaller niche lines that you can pick up at your local discounters to see if you can turn a profit.
If you're a savy shopper, with a never-say-die attitude you can find deals, but don't think this is get rich quick with no effort avenue because it's not.
Good luck!

I had the same issue when we only had 2 kids. Working wasn't paying me enough when all my pay went to day care, so I got into eBay 10yrs ago for the same reason, so I could stay home. It has been worth it!
You can start with stuff you would put in your own yard sale, as well as getting stuff at yard sales and flea markets. That is how we started out on eBay.
It grew from there.
We buy from wholesale dealer auctions. You may have to find out where there might be some in your area and you'll need a tax ID for that.
You can buy some stuff wholesale online and have it delivered to your door and then sell it on eBay. We have done that too.
One good online wholesaler is BlueSkyImports.com. We have bought from them several times.
There are many other wholesalers online. Just do a little comparison shopping for the best deals.
Good luck!

I've been an Ebay Powerseller for 10 years, and you need to listen to what I am about to say.
Doing this resell bit on Ebay will lose you a giant FORTUNE if you are not careful. That site is designed for the buyer's benefit, and prices there are usually WELL discounted below retail price. Add in the fees, and a buffer for the ripoffs and charge backs you will endure via PayPal, and it drain every penny you invested.
Millions have tried it, scant few are still in it selling what they started with a decade ago, and even fewer are making money at it.
Ebay is for getting rid of things you already own, NOT to buy and resell. You will lose your shirt!!

I know you are asking for drop shipping sites, but that is just setting yourself up for failure. You need to find unique products by creating your own relationships.
If you just go somewhere and access a list, you'll be competing withe everyone who uses the list.
If you don't want to buy products do eBay consignment. Start with the people around you – friends, neighbors, coworkers and sell their stuff for a fee. 20-35% is normal.
Once you've started doing consignment sales, keep your eyes open for other items you can sell. Tell people you sell on eBay and people will start offering you items.
You need skills in order to succeed. Jumping into a competitive area without skills will not lead to success.

Count on it, he's getting the items he sells for nothing, And, listings that start at a penny or 99cents are not charged the standard 35 cents for listings going for over a dollar, Those are usually 15 cents or less. And some sellers get occasional promos of FREE listings.
With enough volume and automatic shipping he may make some money. Without actually seeing his listings, tho, I'm just guessing as to his listing strategy.
Here are the main reasons people start the bidding at a penny or a dollar: (1) they get the item free and can easily ship.
(2) They are using the cheap listing to entice shoppers into their store, where everything is usually more expensive
(3) They are relatively new ebay sellers trying to build feedback fast.
or (4) they KNOW that even if they start at a penny or a dollar, they will get a lot more than that at the end, and a low start bid price does draw in the bargain hunters or the curious, and once they start watching some will end up bidding — such is the nature of the beast!
For instance, in the past I sold some original ;photos of the iconic 1950s nude model Bettie Page. She has a sizable and devoted following. I knew from prior experience that I could start a listing for one of these originals at 99 cents, and absolutely will end up with $50 to $200 at the end of auction.
And, should it actually look like I wouldn't (few watchers for instnace) I could always end the auction early, if I still had 24 hours left on it,
You can also ask your ebay queries on any ebay page: Community/Discussion Boards/Seller Central.
(As far as PaY Pal only – not exactly. Ebay's greed (they own PayPal) encouraged this dumb decision on their part. Buit you can also offer 3 other methods (like Moneybookers) and can process the credit cards yourself. And while you cannot now mention you take checks or Money orders in the body of your listing (tho you can say "contact me for info on shipping and payments) if someone emails you and asks if you take paper payemnts, you can definitely do so. Up to around 15% of your total transactions.
